A rare William IV silver Sauce Label of cut-cornered rectangular form with double reeded border, incised for Oude.

Oude Sauce is named after the Indian Provence from which it is derived. It was, from 1819, known as the Kingdom of Oude. The sauce was served with cold meats, and being of Indian origin it contained chilli peppers to make it hot.
