An extremely rare early 19th century Scottish Provincial silver Wine Label of narrow rectangular form, with cut corners and single reed border, incised for WHISKY.
By Alexander Stewart, Inverness, c1810.It is marked with maker’s mark AS, struck twice and his characteristic “Cup & Saucer” mark, which is in fact a capital letter C which is poorly struck or a worn punch (See: Highland Gold & Silversmiths by G.P.Moss & A.D.Roe page 160).
