Rare Early Worcester ""Angler"" Pattern Tankard
Worcester Porcelain First Period Dr. Wall c1756
Photo 1 of 8
A cylindrical Tankard with ridged, loop handle and a flat footrim, extremely well painted in mid and paler tones of blue with a rocky island on which a bubble tree and a lampshade tree flourish. A large pavilion stands partly behind one of the rocks, its walls painted with what appear to be Worcester workman's marks. To the left, a fisherman stands hopefully on a rock holding an enormous rod and line. The secondary scene consists of a further island on which grow a willow and a pine tree. a tall leaning rock stands in the river in front of the island and partly hidden behind this is a large roofed building.
The very rare 'Angler' pattern I.B.36.
Workman's mark. c1756 - 1759
