An interesting Victorian silver and enamel Novelty Pepper Pot in the form of Gulls or Quails Egg, made in two halves with superb precise screw thread to the centre, painted with mottled brown and black enamels to resemble a natural egg. The base is weighted so that the pepper remains upright.

By Sampson Mordan & Co, London 1882. Both top and bottom are marked.

In good condition with some wear to the enamel around the centre and to the base (the silver is showing through) due to frequent handling.
