A superb and large Victorian silver combination sliding Propelling Pencil and Dip Pen, the barrel engraved with foliate scrolls and 'Forget Me Not', the terminal set with a Carnelian seal engraved with the crest and motto of Charles Norton Elvin of East Dereham, Norfolk, in an engraved large trumpet shaped mount covering a lead reservoir.
Charles Norton Elvin was author of 'A Dictionary of Heraldry', and other titles on Heraldry. His crest: 'issuing from rocks ppr., a demi-lion rampant or, holding between the paws a vine-branch fructed, also ppr', and motto: 'Elvenaca floreat vitis' (Let the vine of Elvine flourish) depicted on the seal.
