George V Arts & Crafts Silver & Enamel Coronation Caddy Spoon
Liberty & Co, Birmingham 1910
Photo 1 of 10
A rare early 20th Century Arts & Crafts silver and enamel Caddy Spoon, made for the Coronation of King George V in 1911.
By Liberty & Co, Birmingham 1910.
Liberty & Co had successfully produced a range of spoons designed by Archibald Knox for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1901, so it was fitting for the company to design a new range for George V's crowning in 1911 - this spoon being one such example (see pages 121 & 122 of "Artists Spoons & Related Table Cutlery" by Simon Moore for a similar spoon). This very beautiful spoon has been enamelled within the conjoined "GR" cipher, surmounted by a crown and dated for 1911.
