BENJAMIN & JAMES SMITH, London 1809
Photo 1 of 9
An extremely fine and rare George III silver Wine Label, the shield shaped label surmounted by a naked winged female figure with long outstretched arms and wings, a vine leaf and grape border with lions mask to the base, the plain name plate incised for Port, on a frosted background. Complete with very heavy gauge suspension chain, this is the larger of the two known sizes.
The design is known as 'Lady Bountiful'.
