A extremely early George II silver Wine Label of distinctive chased escutcheon form, chased and engraved with vine leaves and grapes on a matt background. Incised with large lettering for Claret.

This distinctive shape and engraving is noted by James Slater stamped with his first mark and represents a Wine Label from the very earliest years of production.

Unmarked, but almost certainly by James Slater, London, c1729 - 39.
